- Where is the health science library located?
Health Sciences Library is located on the right wing of the manipal.edu building.
- What are the library's working hours?
The library remains open from 8.30 am to 11.30 pm. on all days.
On Ganesh Chathurthi, Vijaya Dashami, and Deepavali, the Library is open from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm.

The library has access control doors, and you need to bring and use your ID card provided by your institution to visit the library. There is no separate membership to use the library by the students, research scholars, and faculty members of health science institutions of MAHE at Manipal.
- How can I access the library resources?
You can access the library's resources physically by visiting the library or digitally through the library website. For physical resources, you can browse the shelves or request assistance from staff. You could access digital resources through the campus network or by logging into OpenAthens remote access software.
- Is there any support for differently-abled users?
Yes, the library provides various assistive facilities for differently-abled users, including:
- Wheelchair access to all levels of the library.
- Walking ramps at the entrance of the library for easy access.
- Tactile flooring from the parking area to the library entrance to guide visually impaired users to the library.
- Talking Screen Reader (Fusion) at Level I for blind and low-vision users.
- Capsule Lifts for easy access between floors.

- How do I request assistance with library resources?
Library staff can assist you with resource-related queries at the reference counters. You can also ask for help finding books, using digital resources, or navigating the library’s assistive facilities.
- How can I find books in the library?
The library has OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue), and author-wise, title-wise, subject-wise, and keyword-search could be made by clicking the same on the library webpage.
- Is there a place in the library for Group Study?
Yes. For undergraduate students, group study spaces are available on the first and second floors of the library. The group study area is available for postgraduate students on the library's third floor.
- Is there a separate space for researchers?
Researchers could use the group study space for their research and discussions in the third-floor reading hall of the library.
- Who can borrow books from the library? Is there any borrower’s card required?
Interns, postgraduate students, full-time research scholars, and faculty members of MAHE Health Science institutions at Manipal are eligible to borrow books from the library. They need to produce their ID card when they join the institution at the circulation counter for activation in the library software.
- How do you borrow books from the library?
Interns, postgraduate students, full-time research scholars, and faculty members of MAHE Health Science institutions at Manipal are eligible to borrow books from the library. Books can be checked out from the circulation counter on the library's first and third floors. You can also use the Self-check-in and Self Check-out kiosks on the first floor to check out books.
- Where can I return the borrowed books?
RFID Dropbox has been placed in the corridor at the main entrance of the health sciences library. Books can be dropped into the same, and acknowledgment slips could be collected from the same. You can also return the book at the circulation counter on the library's first floor.

How can I suggest a book or resource for the library?
If you would like to suggest a book or resource for the library, please fill out the suggestion form available on the library website or at the help desk. The library will review your suggestion and consider it for future acquisition upon approval.

Where do I take a photocopy of my material?
You can use the photocopying facility at level -1 of the library. Photocopying full books is not allowed as per copyright law.

Previous years' question papers are accessible from the library website.

Color printing facility is available in the library's computer lab at Level -3.

Can I use the library computers?
Yes, the library provides computers for student use. Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis in the internet kiosks of the reading halls and in the computer lab on the library's third floor. There are also specialized workstations for users with assistive needs.

Yes, the scanning facility is available at Level 1 and Level 3 (Computer lab) of the library.

If I need a journal article that is not available in the library’s collection, how can I get it?
You could mail to libservices.kmc@manipal.edu. The library will arrange to get it from DELNET. The photocopy charges and postage, if any, need to be paid by the user on receipt of the article

The Internet can be accessed in all the reading halls through Wi-Fi or desktops at Internet kiosks available from level 1 to level 4 or in the computer lab on the library's third floor.

All users of KMC Health Sciences Library, Manipal, who have institutional e-mail IDs (learner.manipal.edu/ manipal.edu) can access electronic resources remotely.

How can I find a journal or a book online?
Click on ‘Publication Finder’ on the library webpage and type the title of the book/name of the book you want to find the full text.

How can I request for Remote Access?
Based on the students’ details provided by the institutions’ offices, the library sends a URL of the library webpage and a step-by-step login guide on how to access the library webpage to each student at the beginning of the course. Hence, students need not make separate requests for remote access. However, research scholars and faculty members of health science institutions on the Manipal campus could send request mail to the library to activate remote access for them.

Yes. ‘Search’ and Advanced Search options are available on the library website. You can also find the PICO search option on the library website. EBSCO Discovery service has been integrated into the ‘Search’ option to facilitate single click search of a given topic

Where can I find databases for conducting systematic Reviews?
You can access all the databases required for conducting systematic reviews (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane Library, Ovid MEDLINE, ProQuest, CINAHL Ultimate) by clicking ‘Online Resources’ on the library web page.

How can I get help in conducting a literature search on my research topic?
You could meet the Deputy librarians on the library's first floor to learn about developing a search strategy for conducting a literature search.

The library website has all the training sessions listed. The training sessions are being conducted either onsite or online. Information on such sessions/webinars/workshops will be displayed on digital posters in the library and circulated through mail.

Can I carry personal books to the library?
You can bring personal books to the library except to the reading halls in Level 3 and Level 4. There is also a private study area on Level 3 of the library for reading personal books.

Health Sciences Library provides a premium Grammarly account for all students, research scholars, and faculty members. It can be accessible by clicking ‘Research Support Tools’ on the library website. You will also find a user guide when you click ‘Grammarly.’

How do I find a newspaper article?
The best online resource for finding newspaper articles is the ProQuest Central online database. Select databases to search newspapers database in ProQuest Central, then click ‘Use selected databases’ to go to the search form.

Is there a plagiarism-checking tool available at the library?
Yes. MAHE provides Turnitin access to all faculty members and Institution/Department ‘Turnitin Coordinators’ through its Digital and Information Technology Department. Students could contact the Turnitin Coordinators of their respective institutions/Departments to check their documents/project work/PG Dissertations. The library will provide a Turnitin report of PhD thesis for researchers on request. Newly joined faculty members can request Turnitin using the IT service desk in the muportal (MAHE intranet portal).

The library webpage has given a link to Mendeley referencing software. Besides, EndNote could be accessed through the Web of Science platform. The library has a subscription to Web of Science.

The journals’ impact factors are found in Journal Citation Reports (JCR). Access to JCR has been given under ‘Online Resources’ on the library webpage.
